Just an FYI to you all…
Beginning in January, we’re going to begin utilizing practice coaching services via ACT Dental (the organization to whom you submitted surveys a few weeks ago). The purpose for my invitation of a practice coach into our office is in an effort to minimize insurance write-offs, improve intraoffice communication systems, and to generally work smarter, not harder.
Prior to the onset of coaching services, I want to address some of the real and valid concerns that some of you may have about the utilization of practice coaching at Fremont Dental. To that end, I submit the following:
- My decision to utilize coaching via ACT Dental came after significant due diligence of ACT Dental as a company and upon the realization that I was ill-equipped to persue my objectives without professional input.
- Unlike many consulting firms (i.e. Mercer Advisors), ACT Dental does not provide consulting. Rather, they provide practice coaching for which there are significant differences. In my opinion, the primary difference is that “A coach enables the individual he or she is working with to solve problems while a consultant is the expert that will solve problems for the team.”
- For example, our coach (Carlie) and I are spending the 6 weeks prior to January’s onset of services simply getting aligned on the values and objectives I have a dentist and business owner.
- On January 10th, Carlie is going to be spending the entire day (without patients) getting aligned on your values and objectives as health care providers/auxillary as well as your values and objectives as members of the team.
- My approach to honest and ethical treatment of patients shall never change. (And, in the event that some outsider were to attempt to change that, I will not hesitate to show them the door.)
My only request at this point is to try to keep an open mind on the idea. I honestly believe that this experience will not only be rewarding, but I anticipate that it might be enjoyable too.
Lastly, I’ll finishish with this:
Without continual growth and progress, such words as improvement, achievement, and success have no meaning.
