Hi All,
On Friday afternoon I began to develop a sore throat and had what I’d call a “tickle” in my throat. By Friday evening the tickle was a very mild cough. Other than some minor sinus pressure, I’ve had no other symptoms. I’ve had neither a fever nor any shortness of breath. Regardless, I called the hotline on Friday night and they scheduled a phone call to me from a COVID screening physician this afternoon.
According to the physician with whom I spoke today, unless any of the staff members in the office have symptoms as well, there isn’t yet cause for serious alarm given that I have been wearing a mask for almost all of our encounters. However, you all should continue wearing your masks around each other and others. Also, out of concern for our patients, I’ve elected to have Sharon contact those patients with whom I had contact this past Thurday or Friday. However, even if I am positive, there’s less than 0.5% chance that a patient would have contracted the virus from me because of my use of the KN95… according to the physician anyway.
All in all, I’d typically qualify what I’m experiencing as a “very mild cold”. In fact and for what it’s worth, I feel well enough that I’ve been out working in my garage and up on a ladder for much of today. However, it’s 2020 so a minor cold is now a huge PITA. Making a long story short, I’m scheduled for a COVID test on Monday and the results are not expected until Wednesday. Assuming that it’s negative, I’ll be back to work on Thursday.
Lastly, I have no intention to “keep secret” this reality from any of you or the public. I really just want to make sure that the story which gets relayed is accurate. Currently, I have a very minor cold. However, out of an abundance of caution, I’m going to make sure it’s just that before I potentially put others at risk.
